Richard Kovalcheck

President

Richard is the President and Founder of MacKinnon Capital.   Richard is an experienced finance professional, averaging over 45 closed transactions per year for the last 9 years, consisting of over $750 Million in Debt Origination.  He has been dedicated and consistent in serving the private client space of Commercial Real Estate Finance.  

 

Prior to founding MacKinnon Capital in 2020, Richard was Managing Director/First Vice President at Opus Bank, responsible for loan production and borrower relationships in the San Diego and Inland Empire regions from 2016 - 2020,  From 2012-2016, Richard was Director of Debt Placement at Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation, working out of the San Diego and Ontario offices, arranging debt for clients nationwide across all property sectors.   Prior to joining MMCC, Richard worked as a loan officer focused on Owner-User/SBA real estate, gaining insightful experience into that specialty of Commercial Real Estate.  

 

Richard graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.  He went on to earn an MBA from Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. Richard most recently earned a masters level graduate degree from the Pacific Coast Banking School in association with the University of Washington, and received an Executive Leadership Training Certificate from the Michael G Foster School of Business.  

 

Richard is married to his wife Amanda, and has 3 boys, August (7), Jack (4), and Cooper (1).  He enjoys spending time with family, coaching youth sports, hiking, surfing, camping, and nearly all outdoor activities..
